クレイジーフォーユーCrazy For You Japanese Version 2006

クレイジーフォーユー(Kurezi fuo yu) is the Japanese equivalent of Crazy For You, a Gershwin musical that had its run in the early 90's in New York and London. I am planning to see it in Kyoto except I can't find the time to do so. I am happy that Shikki Theater Company, which also produces the Japanese (revival) version in 2006 is extending its run until Feb. 25, 2006. This is one of the most memorable musicals I have seen without question. It's not the music, it's the brilliant choreography by Susan Stroman that I love. She is the choreographer behind The Producers (she also directed) and I simply love it! Anyone wants to see the excellent choreography should check out the film version of The Producers since Broadway shows aren't exactly keen on DVD versions. To see any of her choreography on stage is like Halloween for the kids; I remember how I simply couldn't move my eyes away from the stage.
Back to the musical itself.
I bought the Japanese cast CD awhile ago and usually Japanese version sounds a bit odd to me but not this one. I think they have done a great job on the lyrics and the orchestration. Or maybe it's just Gershwin's brilliant music that fits any language in the world.
