Freaky Puppets with Hearts - Avenue Q

A so-called fag-hag friend who has previously refused to get into musicals has been bombarding me with Avenue Q related SMS. So I had to dig up the album to listen to it again, right before my birthday. And you know what, it's a great recording to be listening to right before my depressing anniversary.

"It Sucks to be Me," probably the most well-known song from the show, just makes everything seem a little bit brighter. Life really doesn't suck that much; well, compared to those puppets (and a few human beings) in this show.

When the show came out on Broadway, I didn't think too much of it since I usually perfer the older kind of shows with lots of cliches (plus I didn't see the clips and wasn't quite sure what the puppets were about). I got the album and listened to it and put it away. Maybe with everything that have happened over the past couple of months, all the songs from this show seem perfectly fitting for the occasion. I was in my own world all day today, just listening to the album repeatedly on my phone. Didn't care what others thought of me even when I sang out a few lines on the subway. But some songs are just simply too hard to resist to be singing outloud!

Here is Avenue Q's official site. The cast seems good...
