I have another theory on the reason I always wnat to go to Odaiba (or this time Lalaport Toyosu for that matter). There are the so-called shopping centres/malls in Taipei but they are just somewhat different than the malls I am used to go in North America. I think I kind of miss going to those enormous malls and just hang out there. I suppose I miss hanging out at malls, even though that's more a highschool thing. The last "real" mall I went to was the Ala Moana Center in Honolulu. And I did spend a lot of time there because it was easy to browse and shop. I was over in some mall in the Orchard Road area in Singapore last September but didn't like it. Maybe it's a Chinese thing, the layout of the mall couldn't be easily navigated. And I always have a problem finding the eascalator for some odd reason...
