The Simpsons Movie 終於看到了but need to complain about people
Apart from that, my seat was nowhere in sight because someone was sitting in it. I don't really get why movie theatres need reserved seating in Taiwan. It's crap. You are supposed to arrive early so you can choose your seat. OK, fine, even when it's reserved, some dumbass couldn't figure out that he was sitting in my seat. I don't go to the movies in Taiwan but according to friends, this happens a lot. What's the point of having reserved seating then? Useless morons.
That got me into a pretty bad mood to start with. The movie began with a clip of Itchy & Scratchy movie. It's Itchy & Scratchy so it's slap-stick fun. The moron beside me laughed freakin' out loud and I was fine with it. Well, lower your volume a bit when you see talking starts. Unless you don't even understand English and have to read the stupid subtitles...then, why the bloody hell were you saying "My goodness" for? Geez.
I knew what I got myself into. I should've seen it in the morning when nobody's there. I missed so many jokes because I couldn't hear. But like NY Times critic said, it's like any Simpsons episode, the more you watch, the more inside jokes and subtle humour you get to understand.
But I do have to say one thing. Nobody laughed at the part when Homer was being swung around "between a rock and a hard place". That was quite brillant but apparently nobody could appreciate the subtlety of that joke. I was right. I told my friends that no regular Taiwanese spectator was going to get that part. It was true. There are tons of more and I really need to see it again. I think I should take some notes next time.
For now, just two more things. First, the song "Close to You" by The Carpenters was used again in the movie and that's Marge's favourite tune (in the episode of Senor Dingdong) and that just fitted the ambiance of the scene. Second, Maggie said the word "Sequel" at the start of the ending credits and they said it was her first word. Nope, any good Simpsons fan would know that Maggie's first word was "Daddy" (Elizabeth Taylor did the voice). I think they meant to do this to get hardcore fans talking. Well, it got me talking. I had to phone all the people (actually only one here since it's hard to get what I'd be talkinga bout) to get this out of my system. Great, I am a geek. I am. I played the trivial game on the Fox's TV web site and I scored 80%. Why not 100%? Because I haven't watched all the episodes within the past 3-4 seasons and there were things I didn't get. But considering over 400 episodes and I watched over 350 episodes, that's a good score.
I can't believe I'm being so vain...but it's only this subject that gets me like this. Nothing else would.
